The Churchill High School mariachi program began in October of 2020. The first ensemble was made up of 12 orchestra students. After many hours of rehearsal, that ensemble qualified and performed at the UIL State Mariachi Festival. The Churchill Mariachi Orgullo was the first mariachi ensemble from North East ISD to perform and receive a sweepstakes award at the UIL State Mairachi Festival. Since 2020 the ensemble has grown to over 30 members. Orgullo can be seen around San Antonio at many events, such as the Day of the Dead River Parade or the Ford Mariachi Parades. Members of Orgullo are also represented in the Region 12 TMEA Mariachi Ensemble and the YOSA Mariachi program.
If you are interested in having the ensemble perform for an event, please use the form below. The mariachi ensemble does not receive annual funding. The ensemble operates at the expense of the performers and donations from the public.
