Welcome to English II!  This class focuses on practical instruction in the principles and methods of clear and effective writing and in analyzing and evaluating poetry, essays, fiction, and nonfiction. We will also prep for the English II EOC STAAR test in April.

We'll spend time in the writing process, including analyzing audience and purpose, prewriting, planning, drafting, revising, and editing, so that students become more comfortable and confident writers who express their ideas and opinions clearly and effectively.  Writing well, thinking critically, and analyzing and synthesizing texts are essential skills for college and career success, but also for life as an active citizen in our society.  I hope that as your view of the world expands through the written word, you develop a more critical eye toward it.
