Mr. Virgree Wilkes

I am originally from Queens, New York. While growing up in New York, I loved going to the parks, especially Washington Square Park in Lower Manhattan, and to play chess with my buddies. Every work day, I would cycle from Queens to Manhattan; it did not matter if it rained, snowed, sleet, or if it was cold and/or hot, every work day, I would cycle across the 59th Street Bridge, to my job working as a Bike Messenger. While cycling, I would have my "Walkman" listening to my tunes. Sometimes, I would stop at this Pizza shop that was right across the bridge in Long Island City and enjoy a great Pizza, and right after, I would get back on that bike and cycle home. I loved doing it.  

Later, I joined the US Army as an Infantryman. There I met a great bunch of guys who I got the chance to train with and to call them my brother. My love of adventure got me to look at going to Airborne School and later Ranger School (Ranger School Class 2-93). I have both been deployed to areas outside the states and stationed in areas in and outside the states. I loved serving and doing my time as an Army Ranger, Military Instructor, and a Recruiter for twenty-two years.

I retired from Military Service in June 2007.  Afterward, my family and I moved to San Antonio, Texas, a state and city I love, where I graduated from Wayland Baptist University with a BS in Occupational Education with a specialty in Computer Science. After earning my BS, I went to school to earn my teaching certification, which I did in Special Education. 

Currently, I am both a Case Manager and a Co-Teacher (Math and Science). I work with students with special needs at Bush Middle School. I love helping students with special needs, and I have been doing so for almost ten years. 

I am happily married to my wonderful wife, Armela Wilkes. I have four wonderful children, and two beautiful granddaughters.
