Business Collaborations
NASA
Our NASA Space Act Agreement provides a NASA employee on campus to provide access to NASA-created lessons, activities, and exclusive events not available to the public. SETA offers a unique learning experience where students benefit directly from NASA's expertise and, with open-enrollment, students across San Antonio can join our magnet school program.
Dee Howard Education Foundation
Our partnership with Dee Howard Education Foundation offers students a Pre-Commercial Drone Program, providing them with advanced academics for the rapidly evolving Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) industry. Recognizing that UAS are regulated as aircraft by the Federal Aviation Administration, this program provides extensive training aligned with FAA regulations. The curriculum prepares students for careers across diverse sectors leveraging UAS technology, including oil and gas production, agriculture, architecture, entertainment, real estate, insurance, law enforcement, military operations, and government agencies. With the availability of our local aerospace industry, our partnership prepares students for both education and career.
The National Center for Earth and Space Science Education (NCSSE) and the Arthur C. Clarke Institute for Space Education
The National Center for Earth and Space Science Education (NCSSE) and the Arthur C. Clarke Institute for Space Education have partnered with SETA to offer the Student Spaceflight Experiments Program (SSEP), an immersive STEM education initiative. Students work together to design and propose microgravity experiments while following strict guidelines for scientific research aboard the International Space Station (ISS). Seamlessly integrating authentic, high-visibility research experiences that align with Next Generation Science Standards allows students to develop experiments suitable for miniature laboratories in microgravity, accounting for challenges during spaceflight to and from low Earth orbit across diverse fields like seed germination, crystal growth, organism physiology and life cycles, cell biology, food studies, and micro-aquatic life research.

University Connections
Alamo Academies - Aerospace Academy
The connection between SETA and the Alamo Academies Aerospace Academy is crucial for equipping students with the necessary skills for success in San Antonio's thriving aerospace industry. Through this partnership, SETA juniors and seniors receive thorough training to prepare them for local high-demand careers as airframe and powerplant technicians, aircraft electricians, aircraft avionics technicians, or aircraft fuel systems technicians. Accredited by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), this program provides students with realistic experiences and rigorous coursework, enabling them to work towards obtaining the coveted FAA Airframe and Powerplant license upon completion. Focusing on the manufacturing and repair of both small aircraft and large jumbo jets, SETA's partnership with Alamo Academies ensures our graduates possess the skills and certifications to thrive in this dynamic industry.

Industry Advisory Board Partners
San Antonio's thriving aerospace and aviation industries, with numerous companies headquartered, located, and operating in the greater San Antonio area, have developed a strong connection with the city to develop a skilled workforce pipeline with educational institutions. SETA has worked to develop these partnerships to be able to pivot our educational offerings to the evolving needs in these career fields. Through active insight, partnerships extend to SETA's advisory board, which is composed of representatives from all four pathways subjects, colleges, universities, trade schools, and industry employers, who offer guidance on integrating industry standards into classroom opportunities and experiences.

John's passion for SETA extends beyond the technical application and scientific aspects, encompassing its student significance. With a diverse background in technology, he has established relationships with industry leaders and seized opportunities to apply his engineering knowledge to a wide range of projects. Complementing his connections, John's expertise of electrical engineering is educationally derived from UTSA.
