Prospective bus drivers are eligible per criteria below:
$2,000 if you already have a CDL with proper P/S endorsements
- Payment 1: $1,000 (60 days after employee starts)
- Payment 2: $1,000 (60 days after first payment)
$1,000 if you need to obtain a CDL with P/S endorsements
- Payment 1: $500 (60 days after employee earns the CDL)
- Payment 2: $500 (60 days after first payment)
School bus drivers are an essential part of the safe transportation of students. We make every effort to ensure that every student's school bus ride will be the safest. Our school bus drivers are highly qualified and trained professionals. The minimum starting wage is between $16.80-$19.43 per hour depending on previous bus driving experience.

Minimum Requirements
- 21 Years of age
- Possess or be able to obtain a valid Texas Class ‘B’ Commercial Drivers License with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
- Must pass a pre-employment finger background check, drug test and DOT physical examination (all paid by NEISD)
- No record of DWI convictions for the past 10 years and an acceptable driving record according to Texas Department of Public Safety

Working on your Commercial Driver License (CDL)
- Upgrade your current Texas License to a CDL- Class ‘B’ at your local Texas Department of Public Safety office
- Required to pass 5 knowledge exams (we will provide study material)
- Required to pass a driving test
- Our trainers will prepare you for your driving test with multiple days behind the wheel of school bus learning all the skill sets
- The training section is a CDL third party skill testing provider and will administer your driving test at our facility

Bus Assistant
No driving required. Assists the driver with student management on school bus. Hired initially as a spare assistant; may be on a special needs route or a regular bus route. Options available to be assigned to only special needs route.
