NETS is a community-based program specifically designed to support students in their transition to life after school.

18+ Community-Based Program


  • 18+ Community-Based Program (NETS) is designed to provide instruction in the community in age-appropriate environments. Locations include work-based learning sites and paid-employment sites, postsecondary education options, community services, such as grocery stores and adult agencies, community transportation services, and community sites for recreation/leisure. The environments where the instruction occurs, the supports needed, and the student’s schedule are individually designed and based on the student’s IEP. Anywhere the students might go during the day is a place they will be able to continue accessing when they are no longer eligible for school services. 

    Instruction Hours: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM, 11:30 AM – 2:30 PM, 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM 

    Office Hours: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

    Meals are not provided: students may bring a sack lunch/snacks or purchase items in the community

    Course Offerings: Students in 18+ have already met credits for graduation. Local courses have been developed and students are enrolled based on their areas of need and post-secondary goals: : 

    • Adaptive Skills: Recreation/Leisure, Self-Determination
    • Domestics: Budgeting, Cooking, Shopping
    • Community: Community Agency Services, Paratransit Services, Travel Training
    • College Prep: College Connections, College Readiness
    • Work-based Learning: Employment Skills, Life Skills for Academics, Work-Related Training
