Arts Integration

is an approach to teaching in which students construct and demonstrate understanding through an art form. Students engage in a creative process which connects an art form and another subject area and meets evolving objectives in both.

  • Arts Integration is an innovative and dynamic teaching approach that connects an art form with a core subject area and leads to parallel learning in both. Through a partnership with the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts Partners in Education Program, The Tobin Center provides classroom teachers training in art integration. With these techniques, the arts have become a regular part of the classroom experience and leverage learning in science, language arts, mathematics, and social studies.

    Proudly Partnered

In partnership with The Tobin Center for the Performing Arts, NEISD was selected as one of only 10 arts institutions nationwide to participate in the Kennedy Center Partners in Education Program in Washington D.C. for 2016. The program is designed to partner arts organizations with school districts to provide arts-based professional development training for teachers. Together with Kennedy Center artists and national education leaders, NEISD and The Tobin Center create detailed plans for Arts Integrated professional development training for NEISD teachers each academic year. Over 95 partnerships across 46 states are already participating in the program, which is entering its third decade of service. The Tobin Center is a proud partner with NEISD for transformational learning as TEXAS 2016!
