Ms. Rachael Rodriguez

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year!

Entering my second year at Ronald Reagan High School and 13th year as a teacher, and I am looking forward to another great year as a Rattler. Since my own high school years I have loved science and in 2007 I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from Stony Brook University, because I couldn’t decide if I preferred biology or chemistry. I then spent 3 years in the lab of Aaron Neiman performing yeast genetics and cell biology research before going on to earn my Master of Arts in Teaching Science from Stony Brook University in 2011.

On Long Island I taught various sciences in the William Floyd School District and at Our Lady of Mercy Academy before moving to San Antonio in 2015. I then went on to teach 7 years of biology at Brennan High School before beginning my 12^th year of teaching here at Reagan HS. This year will be my first year teaching Medical Microbiology and I look forward to digging into the lab space.

I have been married for 18 years to my high school sweetheart and we have four children Amelia in 4th grade, Owen in 1st grade and 3-year-old twins Evelyn and Ian. When not busy with school or my children I love to read and I am an avid knitter. Chances are good I have a knitting or crochet project somewhere in my bag. 

I look forward to working with you and your student to give them a learning experience that will encourage them to continue learning and growing in their understanding of the sciences.
