• ARTS 1301/ Art Appreciation provides each student with a greater understanding and appreciation of the diverse ways in which different cultures construct and represent their reality through creative visual arts. Through thematic examination of both historical and contemporary art, the course serves to build the student’s communication and critical thinking skills related to the analysis and interpretation of creative artifacts. The student will acquire a vocabulary to describe the formal properties of art, the varied techniques of art making, and the social, expressive, and functional applications of art. 
    As a result of this course, the student will develop the visual literacy needed to engage in a lifetime of greater appreciation and understanding of the social importance of arts and culture in our daily lives.
