The battalion logistics or supply officer (S-4) is responsible for the maintenance, security, record keeping, issue and turn-in of all U.S government property. The S-4 coordinates the securing of property with S-2. 

Specific duties of the S-4 are to:

- Create and maintain a JROTC clothing and equipment record in JUMS for each cadet. 

- Maintain accountability of all equipment and supplies used by the unit.

- Conduct periodic inventories of the on-hand supplies and equipment and submit reports to instructor staff. 

- Maintain security of all items of clothing and equipment in the supply room, and keep supply room neat and orderly.

- Direct, supervise and train company supply sergeant in the issuing of uniforms, insignia and other supply items as directed by the Bn commander and instructor staff.
