Here is some more information on classroom procedures, and math resources.
Homework: Math is assigned nightly, and is due the next day. We usually review/check HW at the beginning of class. Homework is based on current concepts, but will often spiral back to previously taught concepts as well. Some days, we may not get to check homework…it should remain in the agenda until we do review it.
Homework is written in their agenda daily, and is also listed on my website.Missed work: Missed work/notes will be placed in a missed work folder. Students should check this folder when they return to school. They may put these into their WIP folders to complete or review, etc., as needed. We are unable to give work ahead of time.
Quizzes/Tests: Students are allowed to use their Math/Science/Reading/SS journals on graded work, other than unit tests, MAP tests, and STAAR. Journals stay here at school, but may go home to be studied/reviewed nightly.
Redo’s/Makeup work/Extra Help: I am usually in my classroom by 7:00, and students may come in for extra help at that time. Assignments below 70 may be corrected/reworked to a new reteach grade of 70. Students should keep these assignments in their WIP folders, which they always have at their desk. These assignments should not be taken home to correct unless the student checks with me.
Regular (non-HAM) Math Students:
Online Math Book: Our math book is available digitally. Students may access the book online at home via Launchpad. Look for the Math folder, then the “Think Central” icon. Choose “MY LIBRARY”, then Student Edition E-book G5.
In addition to the book, 2 other resources will be helpful:-
Math On The Spot Videos G5-videos that match the lesson. Prof. Math will explain a problem from the lesson.
-
Interactive Student Edition G5-Intro video and “personal math trainer” -this is interactive guided practice based on problems in the book.
