• UIL stands for “University Interscholastic League” which is the governing body for athletic, academic, drama, and music competitions in Texas.  NEISD sponsors academic teams at each of the middle and high schools. Tejeda Middle School has a proud tradition of having one of the most successful academic UIL teams in NEISD.  Students compete in various math, language arts, and social studies events against other schools in NEISD.

New for all grades: An Academic UIL Study Skills class is available for students to take as an elective for the 2025-2026 school year.

In UIL class, students prepare for academic competitions by focusing on developing advanced vocabulary and math skills. Students will practice in all events, not just one, to ensure a well-rounded preparation for the competitions. The class is designed for students who are committed to competing, as the UIL competitions take place on Saturdays. Our goal is to challenge students beyond their grade level, helping them excel in a variety of academic events. Participation in this class requires dedication and a strong desire to perform at their best during the competitions.
