Celebrating Churchill's 2024 Summa Cum Laude Students

North East ISD is proud to celebrate the Summa Cum Laude students at Churchill High School. These ceremonies honor the incredible accomplishments of the dedicated students who are graduating from high school with grade point averages above 100. These young men and women mastered every academic test we placed before them and exceeded the highest standards, but they wouldn’t be here without the teachers who inspired them.

Anahi with her teacher

Anahi Barrozo is one of Churchill’s exceptional Summa candidates. Tonight, she will honor a teacher who has supported her during her entire educational journey.

“Tonight, I am honoring Mrs. Joyce Hunter, a kindhearted woman who’s always been there when I needed her. Her joyous spirit illuminated a path of compassion that I aspire to embody, a beacon of light I could rely on. She’s been there since the beginning, when she took my hand the first day of pre-kindergarten, and made me who I am today. Thank you for being an extension of my family and your educational service.”

Sixto with his teacher

Sixto Elizondo is honoring a teacher who has inspired him musically.

“Tonight, I am honoring my amazing orchestra director, Mr. Thibodeaux. Under T’s direction I have had an extraordinary musical high school experience, playing in the Midwest clinic in Chicago, Austria and even Carnegie Hall. I have had nothing but support from Mr. Thibodeaux and absolutely would not be where I am without him. The amount of time and effort that Thibodeaux puts into his job is truly unmatched and I am forever grateful. Thank you.”

Congratulations to the Class of 2024! Churchill's Summa celebration will be held the evening of Wednesday, March 27.
